Funeral services for Jay Phillips, 69, Davis, were December 22 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Finis Steelman and Rev. Eddie Dye officiating. Interment was at Green Hill cemetery with Fox Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Phillips was born February 26, 1923 at Foster and died December 19 at Oklahoma Memorial Hospital. His parents were Jack and Annie Tarrant Phillips and he had lived in Davis since 1957. He was a terminal manager for Joe Brown Trucking Company.
Survivors include his mother of Wynnewood; a daughter, Marlene Phillips of Pauls Valley; a son, Maxce Phillips of Davis; a sister, Dorothy Lynn of Pauls Valley; six brothers, Loyce Phillips of Elmore City, Kennith Phillips of Maysville, Gerald Phillips of Pauls Valley, Bill Phillips of Wynnewood, Doyle Phillips of California, Larry Phillips of Oklahoma City and Thell Phillips of Wynnewood; two granddaughters, Amanda Gee and Dawn Phillips and a great-granddaughter, Blair Gee.
Pallbearers were Jerry Bumpass, Don Watson, Royce Jones, Dick Jones, Dale Brown and Jimmy Salter. Honorary pallbearers were Joe D. Brown, Cliff Brown, Ted Brown, Speck Williams, Don Jones, Joe Bill Sandusky, Sam Sandusky and Herman Watson.

It's interesting that the person forging the documents, mis-quoting newspaper articles and erecting tombstones claims his name is Bill Dalton Phillips, but the census clearly shows that his middle name was Murl, not Dalton.
