- Obituary:
Rev. Billy Lenoir Jones, of Spring City, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, at Oak Ridge Methodist Hospital in Oak Ridge, Tenn. He was 67. Born in Loudon County, Tenn., Mr. Jones was the son of the late James Harvey and Abbey Hughes Jones. He was a Korean Conflict veteran having served in the U.S. Army as a paramedic. He was a graduate of Clear Creek Theological Seminary in Pineville, Ky., and received a master?s degree from Covenant Theological Seminary in Rossville, Ga. He was pastor of Wolf Creek Baptist Church from 1978 to 1997 and was serving as interim pastor. He pastored various churches in East Tennessee from 1961 until coming to Spring City. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Glen, Clarence and Tom Jones. Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Moore Jones of Spring City; two sons, Timothy Keith Jones of Evensville and Jeffrey Dean Jones of Grandview; daughter, Deborah Ann Jones Kelly of Spring City; two brothers, Roy Jones of Sweetwater, Tenn., and Kenneth Jones of Rossville, Ga.; four sisters, Nell Blount and Blanche Randolph, both of Loudon, Tenn., Mary Blevins and Edith McCollister, both of Sweetwater, Tenn.; four grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Nov. 17, 1998, at Wolf Creek Baptist Church with Dr. Danny Ruehling, Rev. Omar Painter, Rev. Ira Frazier and Rev. Jeff Elliot officiating. Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1998, in Spring City Memorial Gardens. Vaughn Funeral Home in Spring City is in charge of arrangements.
