    • Obituary:
      LAKELAND -- Mr. Frank Cloud of Lakeland, who died of congestive heart failure Thursday (July 21, 2005) at home, always looked for ways to help. He was 84.
      Born May 30, 1921, in Lakeland, Mr. Cloud was a lifelong resident of this area. As a young man, Mr. Cloud entertained dreams of becoming a preacher and never lost his faith as he grew older. He entered World War II as a pilot in the Army Air Corp. But after a cockpit accident burst his ear drums and grounded him, Mr. Cloud joined the Army. Military service gave Mr. Cloud a different outlook on life. "He always had a really tender heart for people who suffered," said his daughter, Carol Ann Cloud of Lakeland. After the war, Mr. Cloud delivered mail for the U.S. Postal Service. He also served a brief stint as president of the Handicapped Club, which helps take care of people in wheelchairs.
      Mr. Cloud is survived by his wife, Estelle Cloud; son, David Wayne, Nepal; daughters, Carol Ann Cloud, Cathy Ann Stokes and Jan Marie Doolin, all of Lakeland; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lanier Funeral Home, Lakeland.
