      J. W. McWhirt Rites Saturday:
      Funeral services for John W. McWhirt, 86, Kempton, will be Saturday at 1: 30 p. m. at McMullan-Rude Funeral Home with Rev. Phil Bougalog, Kempton Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Kempton Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Friday. The Kempton resident succumbed Wednesday at 5:45 p.m. at Tipton County Hospital where he had been hospitalized eight weeks. He had been ill for six months. McWhirt was the son of James O. and Anna (Hedges) McWhirt. He married Pearl Reese and after her death later he married Iola May Kennedy May 10, 1925. The deceased was a member of Kempton Christian Church and Modern Woodman Lodge. Surviving children are Mrs. Vera May Curtis, Tipton; Mrs. Lorene Moore, Anderson; Joe McWhirt, Kempton; Mrs. Lorene Beasley, Indianapolis; Glenn Cox, Kempton; and Ray F. Cox, Tipton. Three brothers: Oscar Marion; Carl, Killeen, Texas; and Dave, Upland; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren also survive.
