Frances Mary Wager Katzenmeyer, born October 4, 1911, passed from this life Sept.11, 2008.
She is survived by daughters Reba Wager Taylor and Jenny E. Wager of Granbury, Jerry D. Wager and wife Mary, of Granbury, Jim A. Wager and wife Suzanne, of Houston, 27 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren, her brother, James T. Lane, Alvarado.
She was preceded in death by her father Joe Fleming Lane, mother, Jessie E. Terrell Lane, sisters, Jessie Jo and Lucy Emma, brother Tom Lane, her husband, George Willie Wager Sr., his sons, George and Dean, their children, Joe Lane Wager, Sammy Ray Wager, T.J. Wager, Mary Ruth Wager and Hazel Anne Wager Duncan, her husband of 13 years John Bennett Katzenmeyer.
Mary lived in Athens/Cross Roads until 1954 where she had her children and they attended school. She was a housewife, mother and a favorite of all her grandchildren.
She resided in Granbury for about 35 years. She has been a member of First Baptist Church for all that time, taught Sunday School there and was a member of the Willing Workers class at the time of her transition to a greater life with her Lord.
Mary was active in the Rockettes, a club formed in Rock Harbor where she lived. They did various projects which included her seamstress skills by dressing dolls and making stockings at Christmas time. The group is still active and since she couldnt go, brought her lunch from their last meeting recently. They enjoyed a secret chuckle when being hostess at the Opera in their formal wear by people asking them were you really in the Rockettes? What memories you must have.
A memorial service was held at First Baptist Church in Granbury at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept.14 with senior pastor Scott Pace officiating.
A service was held at 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15 at Shelby Chapel Cemetery Pavilion with burial following in Shelby Chapel.
