- Obituary:
Funeral services for James Edward Cloud, 80, will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Saturday October 9, 2004 from the Chapel of Leon Johnson Funeral Home in Henderson with the Rev. Randy Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Henderson City Cemetery.
Mr. Cloud died Wednesday, October 6, 2004 at the Chester County Nursing Home.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Von Bara Cherry Cloud. Mr. Cloud was a successful businessman in Henderson where he operated Cloud Motor Company and Cloud Construction Company.
Mr. Cloud was born on December 16, 1923 in Birmingham, Alabama, son of the late Clarence P. and Maude Amerson Cloud. He graduated from Chester County High School and The University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Mr. Cloud was a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran. He was an active member of the Chester County Civitan Club, supported the Boy Scouts, and he brought joy to hundreds of children through the years by handing out candy at ball games and playing Santa Claus at schools, at family gatherings, in parades, and at Chickasaw State Park. He loved sports, playing basketball and football in high school, and enjoyed attending ball games, especially at CCHS and Freed-Hardeman University.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Judy Berryhill (Skip) of Jackson; one son, Tracy Cloud (Cindy) of Henderson; three grandchildren, Shannon Cherry of Henderson, Allison Orr and Russell Orr of Jackson; one great granddaughter, Madison Cherry of Henderson. Mr. Cloud is also survived by one brother, Clarence Cloud (Mabel) of Lexington, one sister, Louise Guinn (Wasel) of Henderson. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Cloud.
Pallbearers to serve are Jerry Cloud, Russell Orr, Ronnie Plunk, Mike Galbraith, Steve Guinn and Eric Bell.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Guinn, Frank Bell, and Dr. Jim King.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to the "Chester County Dixie Youth," P.O. Box 329, Henderson, TN 38340.
Visitation with the family will be from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M. on Friday, October 8, at the funeral Home.
