On 19 March 1729, the Abingdon Parish register of Gloucester County recorded the marriage of William Dalton, the younger, to Sarah Mynne. She was the daughter of Captain Robert and Sarah Mynne, of Abingdon Parish, Gloucester County. She was born 15 September 1716 and was fourteen at the time of this marriage.
Four years later in 1733, William the younger bought two parcels of land, one for 82 acres and another for 95 acres on Burnt Creek. William wrote a will dated 8' December 1733 and Church records indicated he was buried on 21 December 1733. Records also indicate he was called Captain William Dalton, indicating perhaps that he was in the State Militia.
The timing of his will and death suggest that William knew he was about to die. In his will he left everything to his wife Sarah, and the male heirs of her body. Not only were there no male children born to William and Sarah, but it appears that there were no children born of that marriage at all. Sarah's second marriage was to Herbert Haynes.
