- Obituary:
Bishop - Emily Kelley Cloud, President of Oconee Metal Recovery, Inc., and the wife of Carl Edwin Cloud Jr., passed away peacefully on March 19, 2010. A service celebrating her life will be held on Sunday, March 28, 2010, at 1011 Spring Valley Way, Bishop, Ga., at 2 p.m. The family will receive guests thereafter from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Emily was born in 1940 in Augusta, Ga., daughter of the late Dr. Welcome Kelley and the late Lillian Perry Kelley. Emily graduated from high school in Augusta, Ga., as valedictorian of her class. Emily attended Georgia State University, where she met Carl Edwin Cloud Jr., who became her husband of 44 years. Edwin first noticed Emily because of her beauty but fell in love with her after coming to know her integrity and honorable character.
Emily was an administrative assistant to the President of Sophie Mae Candy in Atlanta, Ga. In 1981, Emily and her family moved to Watkinsville, Ga. Emily attended real estate school, obtained her license and was a real estate agent in Athens and Watkinsville, Ga. In her mid to later years, Emily was a homemaker, lovingly devoted to her husband, family and home. She also became the President of Oconee Metal Recovery, Inc., a family operated business.
Emily instilled in her children the importance of faith and the honor of taking pride in a job well done. Emily was full of life and joy and will be dearly remembered for, among her many admirable traits, her love, faith, laughter and love of life. She was truly a beautiful person, and her family was blessed to have her for a mother, grandmother and wife.
Emily is survived by her husband, her children, John Julian McLane, Brian England Cloud and Kelley Cloud Herrin; and her grandchildren, Mary Catherine Herrin, Anna Emily Herrin and Jennifer D. McLane.
