    Notes 
    • In 1777 he took the oath of allegiance.  He served as a private in the Revolutionary War in Connecticut.  He was a 1st Lieutenant in Col. Thaddeus Crane's 4th Regiment of Militia 1779 in Westchester  Co, NY. On 28 April 1788 he was a trustee, when the Pound Ridge Presbyterian Church incorporated.  He was buried in the Brown Cemetery, Pound Ridge, NY.  His tombstone says, "In memory of Benajah Brown who died in May 1822 age 73 yrs."  His name is also spelled Benijah.  He is listed as Benajah Brown in the DAR Patriot Index, Centennial Edition, Part 1.
