- Obituary:
William Carmi (Bill) Gaddy, Jr., a retired project manager with Exxon Mobil, died at his home at 12:05 A.M. on Tuesday, December 31 following a long illness with cancer. He was 76 years old. With his wife of 55 years, Corinne McDougald Gaddy, he co-authored a Gaddy family history, "That Our Names May Be Written". He said it was his legacy to the extended Gaddy Family. His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren would say that it was his character and loving concern for all of them that was an even greater legacy. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and later in the United States Air Force. He learned to fly when he was 20 years old and maintained a lifelong interest in flying, taking it up again after he was 74 years old.
Bill was the son of William Carmi Gaddy, Sr. and Athalea Cloud Gaddy of Drew County Arkansas who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Corinne McDougald Gaddy, and three children: Barbara Jane Gaddy Keller and her husband Roy James Keller, Laura Kathryn Gaddy of Baton Rouge, and William Scott Gaddy of Marietta, Georgia; four grandsons: Jason Grady Quaid Keller, Jarrett Scott Keller, Tyler Carmichael Durrett of Baton Rouge, William Ryan Gaddy of Powder Springs, Georgia, and one granddaughter Regan Amanda Durrett Hinchcliff and her husband Michael D. Hinchcliff of Conway, Arkansas; four great-grandchildren Hudson Grady Keller, Ethan Noble Keller, William Garrett Hinchcliff and Lylla Corinne Hinchcliff, mother-in-law Sallye Alldread McDougald, a brother Wilbur Gene Gaddy and his wife Mary of Sherwood, Arkansas, two sisters Marjorie Lea Gough of East Point Georgia, Mary Eleanor Bratcher and her husband Carrel Bratcher of Conway, Arkansas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial gifts may be made to Broadmoor United Methodist Church, Habitat for Humanity, or the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center of Baton Rouge. Visitation will be at Broadmoor United Methodist Church beginning at 9:30 A.M. until the service at 11 A.M. Friday, January 3, with arrangements by Rabenhorst.
