- Obituary:
Cora May Lutes, daughter of Solomon and Laura B. Cloud, was born August 12, 1897 at Nora, Nebr., and departed this life Oct. 14, 1953 at the age of 56 years, 1 month, 2 days.
Four sisters remain to mourn her passing: Mrs. Bernice Porter, Whittier, Calif.; and Mrs. Ardis Hocking also of Whittier who were unable to be here. Mrs. Coy Fullmer, Torrington, Wyo.; Mrs. Thomas Forney, Portland, Ore. Her parents and two sisters, Sophia and Livina have preceded her in death.
William Branum Lutes, son of Elie and Susan Lutes, was born April 10, 1887 at Nobby, Missouri, and departed this life Oct. 14, 1953 at the age of 66 years, 6 months 4 days.
Surviving him are three sisters: Mrs. Ira Paxton, Ida, Ark.; Mrs. Claude Paxton, North Platte, Neb.; Miss Carrie Lutes, Kearney, Nebr. Also two brothers: Joe Lutes, Stapleton, Nebr.; and Louis Lutes, Stapleton. Preceding him in death are Mrs. Fred Eickenberry and Miss Myrtle Lutes.
Mr. and Mrs. Lutes were united in marriage April 22, 1916. To this union six children were born. Benjamin preceded his parents in death in infancy and Jud in 1943.
Mr. and Mrs. Lutes first made their home in Stapleton but since 1929 they have lived in the Hebron community.
April 29, 1935 they united with the Methodist Church in Hebron and continued to be faithful to their vows and active workers.
Surviving them are: one daughter, Mrs. Lee West, Gresham; three sons, William D., Lincoln; James, Fort Riley, Ks., Robert of the U.S. Navy.
Also five granddaughters and one grandson and may (sic) other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held in the First Methodist Church, Monday, conducted by Rev. Norman Smitheram.
