- Obituary:
(George) Michael Gross, 83, passed away Friday morning, July 23, 2010, at Biggs Gridley Memorial Hospital, in Gridley.
He was Born March 21, 1927, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to Edward A. and Alma A. (Wilkerson) Gross.
After graduating from high school, Michael served our country in the United States Navy during World War II. He came to know Jesus as his savior and met his wife Juanita Mills at church in the summer of 1947. On December 13, 1947 they married. Just before the birth of their eighth child, Becky, they began their pastoral ministry which has defined all their lives.
Michael had retired from his formal pastoral ministry in the Pentecostal Church of God, however, his passion for ministry, Bible study, singing, and prayer kept him involved informally in the lives of others even during his final year at Live Oak Manor home where he lived.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Juanita (Mills) Gross, of Gridley; his five sons: David, of Mabelvale, Arkansas, Charles, of Riverbank, California, Ron, of Reno Nevada, Roy, of Stockton, California, and John, of Manteca, California; daughters: Rhonda Buce, of Indianapolis, Illinois, Theresa Yates, of Oroville, Becky Reinhardt, of Gridley and their spouses; 27 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial Service will be Saturday, July 31, 2010, at 11 a.m., at Lighthouse Tabernacle, 920 Ohio Street, Gridley.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel.
