- He was orphaned at an early age and was raised by aunts -- Dr. Stone. He was deafened as a child by scarlet fever. When his father died, Dr. Stone managed the affairs of his inheritance until he became of age. He co-founded the Yount-Lee Oil Company as a type of silent partner since he was an officer of another oil company.
He opened the Kyle Opera House in October, 1901 in Beaumont, Texas.
