Regina E. (Knowles) Burnett, long time resident of Fort Dodge died January 22 at the age of 100, in Saint Cloud, MN.
Regina was born Regina Eliza Nordmark on July 15, 1903 in Randolph, KS. She came to Fort Dodge with her family in 1916 and attended Fort Dodge schools graduating from Fort Dodge High School in 1922. She attended Tobin Business College and worked for many years in the city as a stenographer and typist. In 1931 she married W. Elmer Knowles and had three sons; Allen, Bradley, and Curtis. She retired from Iowa Medical Supply in 1965 to enjoy retirement with her family and friends. Her husband W. Elmer Knowles passed away in 1977. In 1981 she married Rolland Burnett, a long time family friend. In 1990 Rollie and Regina moved into Friendship Haven and lived there until Rollie died in 1992. Regina then went to live with her sons and in 1995 entered into nursing home care, where she remained until her death. She celebrated her 100 birthday with her family last July.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Allen and Judy (Nelson) of Arlington, VA, Brad and Sheila (Carr) of Saint Cloud, MN, and Curtis and Roxanne (Aughton) of Apple Valley, MN, a nephew Dr. Boyd N. Nordmark of Des Moines, and a niece Anne (Nordmark) Hosford of Ward Cove, AK. She had 6 grandchildren, 7 great grand children, and 1 great great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. And Mrs O.W. Nordmark, and sisters Bernice C. Kinne and Grace-Lee Bickel.
Regina was a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and was a member of Epworth United Methodist church for 87 years. She served there in many capacities; she was church treasurer for over 20 years. There will be a memorial service at Epworth March 27, 2004 at 3:00.
