      George Moffett (1735-1811) commanded a regiment at the Battle of Guilford Courthouse. He served at the close of the  war as county lieutenant. He was born and died in Augusta County, Va.

      BEAUMONTER DIES ON VACATION IN VIRGINIA
      BEAUMONT, July 23. -- Miss Nora Elizabeth Sublett, niece of Mrs. B. Rush Norvell and Mrs. P.H. Wiess of Beaumont, died in Richmond, VA. relatives had been notified today.
      Miss Sublett, who had been visiting in Richmond, died one day before she was scheduled to return to Beaumont, where she made her home with Mrs. Norvell, Funeral services will be held in Richmond Friday morning.

      Rites for Mrs. Wiess
      BEAUMONT, Nov. 27. -- Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Janet (Birdie) Wiess, 75, of 2520 Laurel avenue, who died Monday while undergoing an operation at St. Therese hospital, will be held today at 4 p.m. in St. Mark's Episcopal church.  The Rev. George M. Cameron, rector, will officiate.  Burial will be in Magnolia cemetery.
      Pallbearers will be Byron Wiess, Dr. John Hart, Lindsey Walker, Caldwell McFaddin, Ashley Weaver, Dick Keith, Lipscomb Norvell, Spencer Blain, Walter Troup, J.J. Bonner and Artie Pollock.
      Mrs. Wiess was the widow of the late Percy Herring Wiess, pioneer Beaumont lumber and oil man.  The couple moved to Beaumont shortly after their marriage in Staunton, Va., on April 18, 1891.
      Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. B. Rush Norvell of Beaumont and Mrs. Martin Perry of Staunton; two grandchildren, J.A. (Buddy) Marshall and Mrs. Robert Mundy, both of Beaumont; and a sister-in-law, Mrs Ruth Wiess Sergent of San Antonio.
