    • Obituary:
      Mr. Merle V. Cloud, 92, of Winston-Salem died Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Cloud was born in Beaumont, Kansas but grew up in Neodesha, Kansas. He worked for Southern Railroad in many locations retiring in Winston-Salem as District Sales Manager. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jane Moore Cloud. He is survived by his wife, Daisy Cloud, of the home; two sons: James Cloud of California and Jonathan Cloud and wife, Deborah, of Burlington; three granddaughters: Jennifer and Sarah Cloud of Burlington and Ashley Hayes of Winston-Salem; one great-grandson, Zane; and two step-sons: Terry Hayes and wife, Diana, and Larry Hayes and Wife, Joan.
      Mr. Cloud was an active member of Ardmore Baptist Church having served as Secretary of the Deacon Council and Superintendent of the Junior Department, Chairman of the Homebound Department, Usher, Greeter, and Church Clerk. In addition, he served as President of the Winston-Salem Traffic Club and was a member of the Railroad Traffic Agents? Association and Delta Nu Alpha Transportation Fraternity.
      Mr. Cloud enjoyed golf and was a member of Hillcrest Golf Club for a number of years. He was also a member of the Twin City Club for several years.
      A memorial service will be held at Ardmore Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 27, with Rev. Bill Ireland officiating. A reception will follow at the church.
