- Obituary:
James Troy Cloud, resident of Ponca City, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at Shawn Manor Nursing Home. He was 77.
The service will be held at 2 pm, Monday, April 16, 2012 at the Second Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Evans officiating. Burial will then follow at the Newkirk Cemetery in Newkirk, OK. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
James was born on February 21, 1935 to Tullay Cloud and Euna (Johnson) Cloud in Oakdale, LA. He served in the US Army from 1956 to 1958 which he spent 18 months in Germany. After his discharge he worked for pipeline companies offshore in Louisiana. He was married to Marilyn Slater on May 21, 1960 in Sulphur, LA. After marrying, they moved to Ponca City where he became a firefighter for the City of Ponca. He was a fireman/EMT in Nov. 1964 and took medical retirement in 1979. Then he worked for Conoco until 1985.
He loved his family and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports. He was Peyton's biggest fan. He spent lots of time in his recliner with his grandkids dog, Rascal. He was a member of Second Baptist Church as well as Ponca Indian Baptist Church. He was known as "Pa" to many.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn of the home, two daughters Shari Dagg of Novato, CA, and Lisa Fowler of Ponca City, two grandchildren Kylie Fowler and Peyton Fowler both of Ponca City, three brothers Mickey Cloud and his wife Elaine of Pitkin, LA, Travis Cloud of LA, and Donald Ray Cloud and his wife Melinda of Justin, TX, three sisters Ersalea Welch of Oakdale, LA, Sybil Vessells of Garland, TX, and Juna Lea Thompson and her husband Tommy of Mesquite, TX. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Troy Lee Cloud and one brother Carl Cloud.
Casketbearers will be from the Ponca City Fire Department.
