Rites for C.B. Whittington To Be Saturday
C.B. Whittington, 56, of 154 Terrell avenue in Groves, died suddenly Thursday night at 9?55 of a heart attack with which he was stricken while attending an OPA meeting at the Chamber of Commerce offices. Mr. Whittington expired on the way to the hospital in a Grammier ambulance.

Mr. Whittington, operator of the Blue Bonnet Cleaners at 1930 14th street for 29 years, was a native of Nacogdoches.
He was a member of the First Nazarene church.
Funeral services will be held at the family residence Saturday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Granville S. Rogers, pastor of the First Church of the Nazarene, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. C.R. Watson, pastor of the Groves Church of the Nazarene.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial park under the direction of Brammier's Funeral home.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Laura Whittington; two daughters, Mrs. D.F. Loukas and Mrs. Marvin Sherrell; two granddaughters, Dianne Loukas and Donna Sue Reynolds; four brothers, Clyde, Lawrence, Clarence and Ludge; and three sisters, Mrs. H.J. Church, Mrs. W.M. Burgess, both of Port Arthur, and Mrs. Tom Polynard of Lafayette, La.

There is confusion about this family because of another family in the 1900 census.
* There are many discrepancies between these familys:
- Tobias' mother's name is Lucinda, not Elizabeth
(and his father Elisha had no wife named Elizabeth)
- Tobias' mother -- Lucinda -- is living in St. Landry parish in 1900
- Elizabeth, the mother, can't be Ophelia's mother as her name is Angelina
- birth dates are all different
- children's names
- Tobias is widowed in 1910
- Ophelia is widowed in 1910

The failure to find two Tobias Whittingtons in 1880 or 1900 censuses seems to imply these are the same person and the 1900 census is simply very incorrect.
