Shelby Lee Johnson
Funeral service for Shelby Lee Johnson will be at 10 a.m., Friday, March 25, 2005 in the Calcasieu Baptist Church with the Rev. Burt Riddles, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Hill Cemetery with military honors under the direction of White Oaks Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Mr. Johnson, 87 of Union Hill, entered eternal life on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 in the Oakdale Community Hospital. He was born on Sept. 29, 1917 to the union of Henry Douglas Johnson and Sina Cloud Johnson in Union Hill. Mr. Johnson was a member of Calcasieu Baptist Church, a retired civil service employee at Fort Polk, and veteran of the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Henry Douglas Johnson and Sina Cloud Johnson; two brothers, Travis Johnson and Carsol Johnson; one nephew, Carl Wayne Johnson; and one niece, Brenda Loran.
His survivors include his wife, Pearlie "Pearl" Johnson of Union Hill; five sons and three daughters, Michael Ray Johnson of Union Hill, Jammie Ballard of Union Hill, Rhonda Ballard of Alexandria, Felix Allen Ballard of Carson, Calif., Timothy Ballard of St. Augustine, Texas, Deborah Romero of Youngsville, Brenda Ballard of Liberty, Texas, and Dennis Cheatham of Little Rock, Ark.; one sister, Mable Johnson of Union Hill; five grandchildren, Shelby Adam Michael Johnson, Jeremy Ballard, Jennifer Ballard, James White, and Richard Boudoin; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers honored to serve will be Jeremy Ballard, Bernie Johnson, Charles Johnson, Glen Johnson, Timothy Johnson, Gerald "Bimbo" Ray, Frank Stokes and Jerry Stokes. Friends may call today in the church from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. until time of service in the church.
