- He was the first Talley who entered the ministry in America. Member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, of which he was a member and minster for over 52 years. He was ordained a Deacon in 1821 and an Elder in 1823.

- Talley's Corner derived its name from the fact, that William lived on
one corner, his brother Thomas on another and William, the father,
owned the last on another corner.; They resided at Talley's Corner
when first married.
