Bobby Joe Cloud Jr., 57, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2008, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, 310 SW Third, Grand Prairie. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Aria Cremation Service & Funeral Home, 1820 N. Belt Line Road, Irving.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials in his name be made to First Presbyterian Church, 310 SW Third, Grand Prairie, Texas 75051, or the New York Stem Cell Foundation, 163 Amsterdam Ave., Box 309, New York, N.Y. 10023.
Bobby was born in Hayes, Kan., on Dec. 1, 1950, to Betty Jo and Bobby Joe Cloud Sr. He grew up in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, living 45 years in Grand Prairie. He attended Grand Prairie schools, graduating in 1970, followed by the University of Texas at Arlington, where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity.
As a longtime resident of the community, he was involved in city politics and sports activities. He was a reserve deputy for the Dallas County Sheriff's Office. He served many years on the city's Planning and Zoning Board. He truly enjoyed sports and dedicated himself to working with children, coaching many boys and girls throughout the years, as well as holding the position of president of the Grand Prairie Boys Baseball Association. Bobby was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church congregation. He was a successful entrepreneur and real estate broker running multiple businesses over the years and building a versatile real estate portfolio that is well known throughout Dallas-Fort Worth.
He was an avid golfer, enjoyed Texas Hold 'em and summer days in his back yard. Bobby lived and breathed his family. His family loved him with a love that was more than love, which was plain for all to see. His selfless, generous, and loving soul was unconditional. Although his life was cut short, he will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him, and is already greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mama Dee, and his father, Bobby Joe Cloud Sr.
Survivors: Adoring wife of 34 years, Linda Jane Cloud; daughters Diana Darden and Ann Cloud; son, Matt Cloud; granddaughter, Kylie Darden; mother, Betty Jo Singleton; sisters, Lynn Robbins Moorhead and husband, Roger, and Gwynn Frazier Redding and husband, John; aunt, Pat Bowley; and many relatives and friends.
