- Edmond Greenwood 'Green' Hampton was born about 1824 in Alabama, married January 9, 1849 in Morgan county, Alabama to Eliza George Eliza died 1865 on the trip from Alabama to Missouri. Greens parents were Myhill and Ann (Brody) Hampton. Once in Missouri, Green married Patience Taber, October 1860 in Taney count).
According to his Civil War Pension the following was printed in the Moulton, Alabama newspaper: "Died in Taney Co, Mo. Hon E.G.W. Hampton, in the 60th year of age. He died on the 22nd day of July, 1879. He was born and raised in Morgan Co. Ala. At the time he was probate judge of the county in which he lived and was highly esteemed by his countrymen. He was a bright mason, a kind father, loving husband and a pious member of the Baptist Church. He was the oldest of 19 children, and only five are left as a remnant of that large family. His wife, 5 children and many relatives to cherish his memory."
Several of Myhill's children made the trip to Missouri and some stayed in Alabama. The Civil War was brewing in the south. The ones that moved to Missouri, served for the North and the ones that remained in Alabama, served for the south, this meant brothers fought against brothers in the Civil War. Green also served as post master for the post office,
Green Hampton is buried at Rhodes cemetery near Ocie and Big Creek area in Southeast, Missouri.
