  Notes	Told to Lynn Wilkerson by her father- she is the great grandaughter of Martin. Martha came with her father from Alabama to Hot Spring Co, AR. Her mother died before reaching Arkansas and her father remarried. I believe that her family is found on the 1860 Census in Hot Spring Co, AR. William McClendon was said to have been one of the earliest settlers in the Big Springs area. There he found a good clear water spring and bottled the water and sold it. Most of the water in that area is brackish due to the minerals in the springs so people would buy good sweet spring water. The spring later became known as McClendon Springs. Martha was about 20 when she married Martin. I have not located any marriage record and as it was at the time of the Civil War many records were lost or burned. Martin was about 50 years old at the time. Martha had 9 children and only 2 were living when the 1910 census was taken. That would be Olivia and Thomas. Olivia said that three of her sisters died in Big Springs, not far out from Hot Springs. After Martin died Martha married Isaac N. Echols, Nov 25, 1890. Isaac, who was 65 at the time soon became ill and the family took over the care until his death. Martha later married Jerry Willbanks June 26, 1898 and married again July 23, 1905. Martha is buried in the Graham Cemetery in an unmarked grave.
