Mary Francis (Tobias) Bullock died on October 31, 2010 at age 90 in Austin, Texas.
Graveside services are set for 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 3, at Steep Hollow Cemetery in Bryan, Texas. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 2, at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 N. Lamar Blvd. in Austin.
Mary was born in Bryan, Texas on August 28, 1920 to James Aubrey Tobias and Catherine Artie Lawless Tobias and graduated from Texas Women's University in 1942 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry.
After working for Magnolia Oil, she joined the U.S. Navy and received her commission during halftime at Cotton Bowl game in 1943. She was stationed at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C. where she met and married Gilbert Martin "Marty" Bullock. Following Marty's retirement from federal government service in 1977, they returned to her Texas roots. After Marty's death in 1995, Mary lived an active life until 2001 when she moved to a retirement community.
Mary is survived by her son, James Oliver Bullock and wife, Patricia, of Austin; grandson, Mark Paul Bullock and wife, Bianca; and great-granddaughter, Mariana of St. Louis, Mo.; grandson, Erik David Bullock of Wroclaw, Poland; son, Robert Martin Bullock of Arlington, Texas; daughter, Mary Catherine "Cathy" Bullock of Austin; and her sister, Catherine Tobias King of West, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mary's honor may be made to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.
