1. John Thomas SMITH was born on February 15, 1861 in Macon County, GA. He resided between 1870 and 1937 in Macon County, GA. He was a Laborer in 1880 in Macon County, GA. He was a Farmer in 1910 in Macon County, GA. He died on November 11, 1937 in Macon County, GA. He was buried in Mount Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Macon County, GA.
SECOND GENERATION
2. James William SMITH was born on February 8, 1832 in Lexington District, SC. He resided between 1850 and 1880 in Macon County, GA. He was a Farmer between 1860 and 1880 in Macon County, GA. He served in the military between February 1, 1863 and December 31, 1864 in Confederate Soldier, 12th Regiment, Georgia Volunteer Infantry,Co. C.(Davis Rifles).. He died on October 15, 1905 in Macon County, GA. He was buried in Mount Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Macon County, GA. He was married to Mary Catherine KLECKLEY on October 12, 1859 in Macon County, GA.
3. Mary Catherine KLECKLEY was born on August 7, 1841 in Macon County, GA. She resided between 1850 and 1880 in Macon County, GA. She died on January 23, 1890 in Macon County, GA. She was buried in Mount Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Macon County, GA.

4. Daniel SMITH was born on December 21, 1771 in Orangeburg (present Lexington) District, SC. He died on September 26, 1847 in Macon County, GA. He was buried in Red Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Macon County, GA. He was married to Sarah (Sally) LYBRAND before 1822 in South Carolina.
5. Sarah (Sally) LYBRAND was born on January 21, 1799 in Orangeburg (present Lexington) District, SC. She resided between 1850 and 1867 in Macon County, GA. She was a in 1860 in Macon County, GA. She died on January 11, 1867 in Macon County, GA. She was buried in Mount Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Macon County, GA.
6. Rev. Jacob KLECKLEY was born on November 1, 1791 in Orangeburg (present Lexington) District, SC. He resided between 1792 and 1804 in Orangeburg (present Lexington) District, SC. He resided between 1804 and 1824 in Lexington District, SC. He resided before 1838 in Newberry District, SC. He resided between 1838 and 1862 in Macon County, GA. He was a Lutheran Preacher and Farmer between 1850 and 1860 in Macon County, GA. He died on April 23, 1862 in Macon County, GA. He was buried in Mount Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Macon County, GA. He was married to Frances A. (Fannie) HAMITER on January 3, 1822 in Lexington District, SC.
7. Frances A. (Fannie) HAMITER was born on January 29, 1801 in Orangeburg (present Lexington) District, SC. She resided between 1850 and 1883 in Macon County, GA. History of Macon County Georgia by Louise Frederick Hayes, page 633, published 1938, The article quoted was submitted by D(avid) C(uster) Smith, a grandson of Daniel and my Great Uncle. The article reads, " Daniel Smith was born in Newberry District, South Carolina, on December 12 , 1771. Sarah LeBon, wife of Daniel Smith, born January 21, 1799. They were among the first settlers that came to Georgia from South Carolina.
They settled about two miles south of old Mt Zion (Lutheran) Church, of which they were members", It goes on to list the children and who they married. Sarah is buried at Mt Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, and her gravestone gives her dates as b. 6/21/1799 d. 1/11/1867. At this time, I do not know where Daniel is buried, but I feel he is probably buried at Mt Zion in one of the unmarked graves. I hope this helps. Patty Ramirez pattyr@bellsouth.net

MR. J. T.[John Thomas] SMITH PASSES AT HOME
Mr. J. T. Smith, 77, prominent citizen of Macon County for many years died at his home in the Englishville community this morning at 10:30 after a lingering illness of several months.
Mr. Smith was a brother of D. C. Smith, Tax Collector of Macon County and James Smith of Atlanta. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Lester Johnson of Andersonville, Mrs. Lois Nicholson of Plant City, Fla. and Mrs. Morgan Williams of Englishville and one son, J.B. [Blanton] Smith of Thomaston.
Funeral arrangements have not been announced as we go to press.

Funeral services were conducted at Mt. Zion Church Friday morning for J.T.Smith, 77, prominent citizen of the Englishville Communtiy, whose death occurred at his home Thursday morning following a long illness.
He had been in failing health for several years and while not confined to his bed, he had suffered a great deal.
Mr. Smith had spent his whole life in the community of his birth. He was a member of the Lutheran Church and the services were conducted by the Rev. D. L. Heglar, pastor of St. Luke's Lutheran Church.

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MRS. J. T. SMITH
Oglethorpe, Ga. Feb. 1 - Funeral services for Mrs. J. T. Smith, one of the oldest and most highly respected citizens of the county, whose death occured rather suddenly at her home near here at five o'clock Tuesday morning, were held from the late residence at ten o'clock Wednesday A.M. conducted by her Pastor, Rev. D. L. Heglar.
Mrs. Smith was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church and was active in church work. she was a devoted wife and mother and her passing is mourned by scores of friends.
Surviving in addition to her husband are three daughters, Mrs. L. G. Johnson and Mrs. M. E. Williams of this county and Miss Lois Smith of Plant City, Fla. and one son, Mr. Blanton Smith of Thomaston, Ga.
Interment was at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
[Note: There is NOT a marked grave in Mt. Zion Lutheran Cemetery for Mrs. J. T. Smith BUT there is a John T. Smith buried there with No Dates, could possibly be his wife ?]
