KLECKLEY MEMORIAL TO BE UNVEILED AT MT. ZION SUNDAY
The memory of the Rev. and Mrs. Jacob Kleckley will be honored at a "Home-Coming Day" program to be conducted by the Macon County Lutheran Parish at the old Mt. Zion Church in the Englishville Community on Sunday, September 20th.
D. C. Smith, general chairman of the festivities, announces that a fitting historical memorial will then be unveiled on the grave of his grandparents- the Rev. and Mrs. Jacob Kleckley. This service will be conducted in the Mt. Zion Cemetery at 4:00 pm by Dr. C. E. Fritz of Atlanta.
In the morning at the 11:00 am service, Mt. Zion's oldest living former pastor, Charles A. Phillips. of Hickory, N.C. will deliver a sermon on "The Lamps of Life".
During the 3:00 pm service, sermons will be given by Dr. C. E. Fritz and the Rev. Park Smith, pastor of 1st Street Methodist Church in Macon, Ga. As the Great Grandson of Jacob Kelckley, the Rev. Mr. Smith will speak on "The Church and the Family". As the President of the Georgia Synod of the Lutheran Church which Jacob Kleckley helped to organize in 1860, Dr. Fritz will discuss "The Congregation and the Greater Church".
The general public is invited to attend any or all of these "Home-Coming" festivities. Please bring a picnic lunch with you so you can join the gathering around the "old oak tree" in the Mt. Zion Church yard at noon time.
