If Simon Wiess had siblings,
did any of them come to America?

At this time, we don't know.  It is thought he had siblings, because family lore says Simon left home at such an early age because he had older brothers and, in Jewish tradition, the eldest son received the largest portion of the inheritance. The 1870 census at Wiess' Bluff -- sub 23, Jasper county, Texas, Page No. 29; 497 of July 16, 1870, may give a clue about any kinfolk he may have had in America.  Two homesteads away from Simon and his family is the family of Joseph Wiess, born North Carolina.  Joseph was 27.  His wife, Catherine, was 21 and born in Texas.  They had children Matilda Wiess, 6; Laura, 5; Milton, 4; and twins Kittie and Julius, 2 months old; all born in Texas.  (It is interesting that Simon and Margaret also had twin sons, Mark and William.)
