This crest, attributed to the Wiess family, is taken from the Wiess College web site:  "The members of Wiess College decided to adopt, with a few alterations, the crest of the Wiess family for which the college is named. These alterations consisted of changing the coloring from blue and white (???) to black and gold, and replacing a goose on top of the knight's helmet with a Rice Owl."      If you have any evidence of a Wiess family insignia, crest coat-or-arms, etc, please contact me.  Is there a Wiess crest or coat-of-arms?  This writer is unaware of any official family insignia.
