Mrs. Clyde Wiess Kyle was the daughter of Massena Wiess, the youngest son of Simon and Margaret Wiess.  (Her name was pronounced "Clydie".)  She married William Wesley Kyle, the son of Obadiah Kyle and heir to Obadiah's partnership in the McFadden, Wiess and Kyle business.  The first well drilled at Spindletop was on the McFadden, Wiess, Kyle land of the Beaumont Pasture Company.
