Wrote to grandson Tommy, around 1952, while still living in Albion, that her name was "Marry Lizzie Beth Seybold".  Shorty and Hazel said her name was "Elizabeth Delilah".  Her marriage license lists her name as Lizzie Seybolt.  On her son, Thomas', delayed birth certificate, her name is listed as "Elizabeth Dinah Seybold" while on his social security application he lists her name as "Mary Elizabeth Seybold". The only census she appeared on as a child by name was the 1900 Chickasaw Nation census, where she is listed as "Lizzie".  This is the same name she used in subsequent censuses with her own family.
    "Shorty", her daughter, said she was born in "Casa Grande, Texas" (but that's in the Big Bend country, so it's more likely she misunderstood the pronunciation of "Corsicana").  Her dad (J.R. Seybold) owned a store in Sciota, Illinois and her older siblings were all born in Illinois. He is listed on the ILL census in 1880, but he writes a letter from Chatfield, Navarro County in March of 1883 and then from Rice, Navarro County, Texas, near Corsicana, in 1890.  He purchased land in Navarro County in April 1883 and grandma wasn't born until October of that year, so it's pretty obvious she was born in Navarro county Texas -- that is to say Corsicana, if Shorty is correct.
    On the 1910 Konawa census, she lists her birthplace as Texas and the birthplaces of both her parents as Illinois.
    She told Dardenelle and Mary Boynton that she and her siblings had "numbers" from the Bureau of Indian Affairs.  Doris (Seabold) Kalita, Zeb's daughter, said that they got a settlement from the BIA because she was deceased and her husband was a Cherokee, so they distributed the money among her nearest kin.  She says her father, Zeb, got about $35.
    Aunt Hazel (9-11-97) says she is sure that her mother and her people came from Illinois.  She said they were "Northern" people -- not easily accepted in I.T.  That they had Negro servants and that her mother was kidded because she was nursed by a Negro slave when her mother had been ill.  (The owning of a slave when she was born, in 1883, is unlikely -- especially considering that many of J.R.'s people -- and possibly J.R. himself -- served in the Illinois Infantry which was in the Union.  Though I suppose it is possible some of their slaves stayed with them -- or perhaps they just had servants.)
    They moved to Ardmore, in 1890,  where her father, J.R., owned a store.
    Her father died when she was about seven (ca 1890), her mother died a few years later, and she was passed from family to family. Aunt Hazel (9-11-97) said that she babysat when her mother was ill, when she was ten.
    "Her two oldest sisters were school teachers ... momma and Aunt Lena were last, sort of orphaned, and didn't get an education."  Aunt Hazel (9-11-97)
    She was close to her brother Zeb.  Never knew Herman or Theodore (how can this be, she was at least 7 years old when Theodore died and 15 when Herman stole the money?).

Lillian Ruth Napier, 89, of Newman died Wednesday at Del Puerto Hospital in Patterson.
Mrs. Napier was a native of Oklahoma and lived in Newman 18 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Westside Christian Center in Gustine.
She is survived by her children, Claude D. Cloud of San Jose and Jerry Cloud of Taft; brothers, Fred Cloud of Georgia and J.W. Cloud of Penn Valley; a sister, Hazel Brown of Modesto; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Hillview Funeral Chapel in Newman.  Burial will follow at Hills Ferry Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at the chapel.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in Hillview Funeral Chapel, Newman, for Richard Cloud, 78, of Newman who died Saturday in a Modesto hospital.
Visitation will be held today (Thursday) from 4-8 p.m. in the chapel.
Interment will be in Hills Ferry Cemetery.
Born in Oklahoma, Mr. Cloud moved to Newman in 1953. He worked for the city of Newman for nine years.
Survivors include two daughters, Beula and Kitty Cloud, both of Texas; four brothers, Bill of Newman, Charlie of Oregon, Fred of Georgia and J. W. Cloud of Palo Alto; and two sisters, Lillian Napier of Newman and Hazel Brown of Modesto.

He was named for his Uncle Tom.  His brother J.W. remembered "Jerry" coming to visit from Oklahoma City, when he was 7 or 8 years old, driving a 1931 or 1932 4-door convertible and taking him for a ride.  He said they were impressed that Jerry always wore a suit and a tie when he came to visit.
He ran away from home when he was about 15 -- supposedly because he got a whipping for swimming in the Canadian River outside Konawa. His dad thought it was too dangerous.  He went to Oklahoma City to live with his sister, Hazel, and finished high school there. (5-12-00) Hazel said, for his first job, he got a job playing his guitar in a dance hall for five dollars a night.  She said he always loved his guitar.  He drove a cab there and worked as an accountant. He later lived with a lady named Mrs. Yoakum (Yoacum?) who owned a grocery store (the Star Food Market) and a used car lot. He delivered groceries for her on his bicycle.  Mrs. Yoakum also had a daughter. (Gloria later said their names were Loma Putnam and son Ted -- or perhaps Ted married Loma Putnam.)
Later, he enlisted in the Army to serve in WW-II.  He went to Port Arthur to study Radio at Port Arthur College so he could be a radio operator.  That's where he met Gloria Whittington.  He was transferred to El Paso and she took the train there to marry him.  He was shipped to the Pacific and served in the Philippines for two years.  During that time, his eldest son was born.  He served as an electrician and then as the driver, radio operator and valet for several officers, including General I.P. (Innes) Swift.
When he returned, he took a job as an accountant in Dallas and had a terrible asthma attack and moved back to Oklahoma City for relief from it.  He sought out Mrs. Yoakum, rented an apartment from her, and he and her son, Ted Yoakum, drove cabs. She also owned a used car lot and Tom sold the Pontiac his wife Gloria loved and bought a Nash Rambler from her to use as a cab.  He took a position as engineer of a radio station in Tucumcari, New Mexico and then at Jefferson Chemical Company in Port Arthur and retired from there.
He loved the guitar, his children remembering him getting up early every morning to study music and to play the guitar.  He later taught guitar in his home for over ten years.  He loved to play music, cards and golf with his friends.
His Army Separation Record notes that he was a Tec4, and entered active service July 17, 1940.  His permanent address was given as 3725 34th Street, Port Arthur, Texas (his in-laws).  Highest grade completed, 12th, at Central High School, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, graduating in 1934.  His Service Education was "Signal Corps; Radio Operator" and "USAFI; Radio, Elect.Tg."  He had previously worked four years at the Star Food Market in Oklahoma City.  His Military Specialty is listed as "4 years, Tec4, Radio Opr High Speed, code 777".  His date of separation was July 11, 1945 at Fort Bliss, signed by Capt. Claude C. Dove.
His Honorable Discharge Certificate gives his height as 5' 6" and his weight as 127 lbs.  His Military History as: Date of entry into active service: July 17, 1940 at Fort Logan, Colo.  Home address at time of entry: "Fen Del Pushmataha Okla" (this is probably "Gen. Thomas Marin Cloud, beloved husband of Gloria, and father of Thomas, James, and John Cloud, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Thursday, January 28, at 71 years of age.
He has ten grandchildren, Bobby, Talitha, John, Luke, David, Daniel, Kelly, Nikki, Matthew, and Jillian. He is also survived by five brothers and two sisters, Bill, Dick, and J.W. Cloud, Lillian Napier and Hazel Brown in California, Charlie Cloud in Oregon, and Fred Cloud In Georgia.
Born October 31, 1916, In Konawa, Oklahoma, he served four years during World War II in the 1st calvary Division, as radio operator and as driver and aide for General Innis P. Swift In New Guinea, Blsmarck Archipelago, Southern Philliplnes and Luzon. He received the Phillippine Liberation Ribbon with two bronze stars, the Asiatic-Pacific campaign medal with four bronze stars, the Good Conduct medal, and the American Defense medal.
He was a resident of Austin for 39 years, and was a member of Great Hills BaptiSt Church (formerly Allandale Baptist). He worked for Jefferson Chemical (Texaco) from 1948 until retiring In 1981, and was an accomplished jazz guitarist who taught guitar lessons for 17 years.
The service will be conducted January 30, 1988 at Colonial Chapel, Cook-Walden Funeral Home with interment in Capital Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers: sons Thomas, James and John; grandson Robert and sons-in-law Marcus and Richard Whittington.  Dr. Harold O'Chester of Great Hills Baptist Church will officiate.
Services are pending at Cook Walden Funeral Home.

Obituary:
J.W. "Jim" cloud was born August 25,1925 in the small historic town of Konawa, OK. The youngest of 10 children he learned how to work hard from an early age; helping cultivate his family's farm. In 1943 Jim joined the US Navy, serving tours in both WWII and Korea. Following his Naval retirement as a Machinist's Mate First Class in November 1964 he spent the next 26 years working at Stanford University. Anyone that met Jim couldn't help but be drawn in by his loveable, down to earth nature and captivating stories. He spent his later years working in his home wood shop. If you wanted it, Jim could make it, as many of his neighbors could testify. Jim passed away February 2, 2014. Those who survive him loved him dearly and will miss him greatly.

A memorial funeral service will be held in the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home Chapel (Taft, CA) on Friday, January 11, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. for longtime Taft resident, Jerry Dalton Cloud, 78. Mr. Cloud was born on June 7, 1934 in Oklahoma and passed away on January 4, 2013 in Taft. Mr. Cloud was a firefighter in Texas and then when he moved to Taft he worked in the oil fields for 42 years. He was a generous man and treated everyone equally. He enjoyed cooking and he would always make sure you ate the meal he had prepared for you. Mr. Cloud loved hunting, fishing, his grandchildren and especially his hunting partner. He loved the outdoors and his hummingbirds while living on the ranch these last years, also making sure all the animals were fed and taken care of. Mr. Cloud was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Mae Cloud. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Dewayne and Sherry Cloud, Cleo and DeAnna Hunter, Reba Meek, Frankie Hunter, Denise Henkins, LeAnndra and Tom Plummer, and J.D. Estep; his grandchildren, Alexis and Kenzie Cloud, Mistee, Heidi and Cleo Hunter, Jr, Jerry, Heather and Raymond Meek, Shadd Curriston, Amanda Hunter, Anayia Hunter and Verity Hunter; his great-grandchildren, Tearza Chacon, Jerry Meek, Jr, Isaac Meek and Christian Traynor. Funeral services for Geneva "Tootsie" Cloud Wilson, 69, of Lexington were held June 24, 2005 at Lexington First Baptist Church with the the Reverend Leon Wilson, the Reverend Buck Jordan and the Reverend Steve Lance officiating. Interment was at Lexington Cemetery under the direction of Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell. Mrs. Wilson died June 21, 2005 at her home. She was born January 12, 1936 in Konawa, the second of four children of Jack Elmo Cloud and Alma Wiley Cloud. She was reared in the Trousdale, Corbett and Lexington areas and attended Lexington schools. She later married, had three children and worked for John Roberts Ring Factory in Norman. When her children were nearly grown, she married Leroy Wilson on February 15, 1974 in Gainesville, Texas, and they made their home in Lexington. After they were married, the Wilsons became interested in Volkswagons, and in 1978 they started Wilson's Volkswagons in Lexington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leroy Wilson January 19, 2000 and a brother, Jackie Ray Cloud in 1996. Survivors include six children, Larry Horn and Darrel Horn and his wife, Patsy, all of Lexington, Carol Carr and her husband, Steve, of Noble, Steve Wilson and his wife, Karen, of Mustang, Andrea Truelove and her husband, David, of Newcastle and Chris Wilson of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Dortha Darling and her husband, Gary of Norman and LaVern Jennings of West Monroe, Louisiana.; one sister-in-law, Sherry Cloud Taylor and her husband, Greg, of Lexington and several grandchildren. Pallbearers were Steve Carr, Dane Jennings, Jeremy Cloud, Mickey Baker, Randy Qualls and Randy Simmons. Honorary pallbearers were Charles and Travis Barton, Don Jones and Tim Barton.
