"Alick Oglievie, a native of Scotland, aged 89 years died at the county hospital Thursday.
"He had been the institution for 19 years. He was buried in the city cemetery Friday."
9/2002 notes from Sharon McChrystal
Alexander had been living in the poorhouse in Sonora for 19 years. His home in Jamestown was later designated a historical house so stands still. It was explained to me that being in the poorhouse didn't necessarily mean one was destitute but in those days if people needed constant care that it is where they were put.
