  • Name Agnes Carter
    Born 1744
    Gender Female
    Died
    Notes
    • Information gathered from a book titled "A History of the Carter Family"
A portion which pertains to our family was sent to me by The Cecil Cty. Historical Society. It lists five families named Carter who came to the Colonies. They were all probably from the same Carter family that was located north of London. A family crest has a cartwheel and talbot and was first recorded in London in 1612 and in America in 1635 by a Rev. Thomas CARTER of Watertown Mass.
Agnes is listed as the forth child of Abraham CARTER but no dates of birth or death or children. She was married twice 1st to Thomas BARNARD then to John EVANS.
"Thomas Barnet of Chichester Meeting and his first cousin Agnes Carter m. out of friends 26 September 1765 at Old Swedes Church, DE." [Early Church Records of Delaware Co., PA., p. 180].
