    • Obituary:
Doris Irene Cloud Breuer died peacefully in her sleep on March 7, 2012 at St. John's Mercy Hospital after a brief illness. She was born April 10, 1917 to John Van and Lenne Wolf Cloud in Memphis, TN and grew up living in 36 states from the swamps of Louisiana to New York City before ultimately settling in Springfield to raise her family.
She graduated with a journalism degree from the University of Missouri in 1934 and soon thereafter traveled alone by train to San Francisco where she found employment with Bon Marche' Department Store in Sacramento in the marketing department. She met her future husband Gene in Sacramento one Sunday morning while waiting for a ride home from church.
Her talent for writing and love of words led her to numerous positions in advertising, public relations and journalism including feature writer at the Springfield News-Leader.
She was preceded in death by spouse Noel Eugene (Gene) Breuer, her parents and her sister Virginia Maher. She is survived by her daughters Jane Ann Baltis and Dr. Nancy Breuer and son Noel Bradford (Brad) Breuer; sister-in-law Rebul Kiely and husband, Sid; brother J.V. Cloud, Jr. and granddaughters Ingrid Gerdes, Erika Gerdes Murray, Anne Breuer Huitt and Emily Breuer Bing; six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 10 at 1:00 PM at First and Calvary Presbyterian Church. A reception will immediately follow the service at the home of Nancy Breuer. Online condolences may be left at gormanscharpf.com.
