Viva Cloud
Viva Cloud Viva Cloe Cloud, age 93, of Springfield, Missouri, was born April 29, 1914, in Quanah, Texas. She passed from this life on Monday, July 16, 2007. Viva was the daughter of PJ and Alice Miller. She had four sisters and one brother, all of whom preceded her in death. At the age of eight, Viva accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was baptized in a creek. Her love relationship with Jesus grew throughout her 93 years of life. She served in the Baptist church most of her adult life. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Springfield, Missouri, where she taught a ladies Sunday School class. Viva graduated from high school in 1930 at the age of 16 and began teaching in a one room country school house. She attended college at Southwestern in Weatherford, Oklahoma, where she received her bachelor of education degree. Later, she received her master's degree. She taught school for 37 years in Oklahoma and New Mexico. She married Walter Roy Cloud on September 18, 1936, in Sayre, Oklahoma. They were married for 61 years. Roy passed away June 24, 1997. Roy and Viva have two living children, Pat Breckenridge, Springfield, Missouri, and Larry Cloud, who is married to Bettye, Clovis, New Mexico. An infant son, John Walter Cloud, died at birth. Viva was also preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Scott Miller. Viva has four grandchildren, Manda Vermillion and her husband, Todd; Jennifer "Jenny" Parker and her husband, Jason; Stephen Cloud and his wife, Amy; and Caleb Cloud. Viva has seven great-grandchildren. Their names are: Jeremy, Seth and Sarah Vermillion; Bo and Bella Parker; and Meaghan and Meredith Cloud. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and other beloved friends. Viva said that her greatest award was the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. Her greatest joy was her family and serving the Lord. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 23. Proverbs 31:10-31 expressed the desire of her heart to be a wife/woman of noble character. She stated, "Don't grieve for me. Just remember every member of my family is so dear and precious to me. I love you with all my heart. When I leave, I'll be safe in the arms of Jesus. Love and Blessings, Mother, Gma, and G.G." Funeral services will be held Friday, July 20, at 10 a.m. at Greenlawn East, located at 3540 Seminole, Springfield, Missouri 65809. Visitation will be held there today, July 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. The burial will be at Hazelwood at the Springfield National Cemetery, located at 1702 E. Seminole, Springfield, Missouri, immediately after the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, please make any contributions or donations to Second Baptist Church Missions fund, 3111 E.
