Obituary:
M.E. Cloud, 83, a resident of Bonne Terre for more than 50 years, died Saturday evening at his home at 415 North Division Street. Mr. Cloud was a retired railroad man, having 42 years service with the M.R. and B.T. and Missouri-Illinois companies. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in Bonne Terre.
Marion Elisha Cloud, son of George Wilson and Mary Elizabeth Taylor Cloud, was born September 29, 1867 near Farmington, Mo., and departed this life February 10, 1951 at his home in Bonne Terre at the age of 83 years 4 months and 12 days. His death was due to a heart condition.
Mr. Cloud was united in marriage to Laura B. Henson on June 4, 1902, and to this union five children were born, all who survive. They are: Mrs. Austin (Naomi) Yates, Mrs. Edward (Verna) Lindhorst, and Glenwood, of Bonne Terre; Robert of St. Louis; and Homer Dell of Phillips, S.D. Two daughters by a previous marriage, Mrs. L.C. (Ethelean) Beck and Mrs. Lida Hallon of St. Louis, also survive. His first wife preceded him in death many years ago. He also leaves 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He entered service with the M.R. & B.T. Railroad, which later became the Missouri-Illinois, on February 26, 1891, and after 42 years in their employ he was pensioned on July 1, 1933 as a car foreman.
Mr. Cloud was a member of Centenary Methodist Church since June 13, 1926, the local Board of Education, Samaritan Lodge 424 AF&AM, Uel Chapter RAM 129, Council 43 R&SM, DeSoto Commandery 56, Knights of Templar, and Vincel Chapter 43 OES, and served many years as Tyler of Samaritan Lodge. He was a member of Modern Woodman of America, since 1901, and for the past 10 years had been a trustee of that organization.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Centenary Methodist Church in Bonne Terre with Rev. Walter Niles officiating. Interment was in St. Francois Memorial Park.
