"I will give you the names of the Cloud family. They were brought up in Patrick County, Virginia. My father's name was William Morgan Cloud. His parents were William Cloud and Elizabeth Morgan and his 13 brothers and sisters names were: Isaac, Benjamin, Joseph, John, George, Martin, Greenberry, Nancy (Cloud) Webb, Polly (Cloud) Hankins, Elizabeth (Cloud) Carlin or Karlin, Samuel, one half-sister, and one half-brother Washington Cloud.
"My grandfather married Nancy Vaughn, second wife, and lived in Lawrence County, Missouri.* Washington was a Col. in the Civil War. He was born the day his father died and his father named him in honor of George Washington. Nancy (Vaughn) Cloud had one girl.
"My father was William Morgan Cloud; he married Rebecca Mitchell when she was 13 or 14 years old. She was my mother. Their children were: Benjamin, Robert, Calvin, William, Orval, John, Polly (died at 16), Eliza (Cloud) Allen, Nancy (Cloud) Day, Lucy Ann (died at 11 days old), Martha (Cloud) (Simpson) Edwards. I am the youngest child.
"Calvin married Elizabeth Jane Kershner from Rogersville, Tennessee.** She was born in Hawkins County but moved to Missouri and they were married by Squire Thomas Burton Neaves May 11, 1846, in Greene County, Missouri. You can put in their children's names.
Aunt Martha (Cloud) (Simpson) Edwards"
Notes by Mollie Cloud Huston:
*This is an error. Washington Cloud practiced law in Pierce City, Lawrence county, Missouri, but Nancy (Vaughn) Cloud was a resident of Virginia during her adult life.
**These are my grandparents
