    • William was a native of Rockingham County, North Carolina, a son of a prosperous plantation family.  He migrated west to the Mississippi Territory in the 1790's along with several of his siblings and his widowed mother who had remarried a gentleman named Adonijah Harbour. William's mother settled in East Feliciana Parish near Bayou Sara and William settled further north in Mississippi.  In the early 1800's, William relocated to St. Landry Parish near Opelousas.
          His son William, and daughters, Jane and Melina, migrated to Texas along with their families.
