1830 census shows Joseph in Montgomery county. 1840, 1850 and 1860 censuses show him in Barbour county.

1830 Census: Only listed the father's name and numbers in age groupings. Listed names are my assumptions based on the ages obtained during 1850 and 1860 censuses.

age 20 - 29 (1) (Mary) We have no date for her birth. Jeremiah's obit indicates he and Elizabeth had been married for 60 years. If that were the case, Mary could have been born as early as 1802, which would make her no older than 28. I do suspect that Mary was the first born.
Comments on this census: If I could find the dates that the census actually took place for 1830 and 1840, would probably be able to make a pretty educated guess as to what month Mary Elizabeth was born, at least narrow it down to within a couple of months. In this census (1830) Joseph and his family were polled just prior to Jeremiah, and 6 families after Jacob Cobb whose age was between 40 and 49 (would suspect that this is Joseph's father - Joseph would be around 30/31 and would suspect Jacob 47/49).

Lura Black's comments concerning 1850 census: "It is difficult to read the age of Jacob, but the names Jeremiah and Jacob are bracketed which I would suspect means they were twins. Further down on the page is another family where the two children are the same age and it too, is bracketed. Also, would suspect that these two boys were named after both of their grandfathers".

Lura writes "I believe I've included everything I can think of regarding these censuses. I have concluded that Mary was born between 1802-1809. Joseph was born about 1799 (since he was 51 during the 1850 census; also, would suspect he was born between 16 Aug and 10 Oct of that year.)"
