James L. McCabe
WINNSBORO ? Graveside services for James Lavon McCabe, age 73, will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at Bethel ARP Church Cemetery, conducted by Rev. Gregory C. Slater and Dr. Clyde T. McCants. The family will receive visitors in the home at 4123 US Hwy 321 N, Winnsboro.
Mr. McCabe died in his home on January 22, 2010. He was the husband of Madlyn Day McCabe and son of the late James Lewell McCabe and Lennie C. Freeman. He was born in Amite County, Mississippi on February 5, 1936. Mr. McCabe was a 1959 graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi with a BS in Chemistry and worked various positions at Uniroyal before retiring as plant manager in 1992. He was a member of Bethel ARP Church. A beloved husband, father, and grandfather, he enjoyed playing golf and may be remembered best for his works of art depicting scenes from the South.
In addition to his wife, Madlyn, Mr. McCabe is survived by two daughters, Renee McCabe of Adams Run, SC, Ramona Matthews and her husband Eric of Columbia; two brothers, Dalton L. McCabe and Ronald L. McCabe, both of Baton Rouge, LA; one sister, Jean Knipp of Orange, TX; and four grandchildren, James Matthews, Jessa Matthews, Caleb Matthews and Allison Matthews.
