Notes |
- In August 1859, Sanford and Susan Seybold deeded a tract of 8x10 rods in the NW corner of the SE1/4 sec. 32 (Hancock Co., IL - Harmony twp) for a school house. Later they deed an additional 1 1/2 acres for a playground.
The town of Denver in Harmony township was first to be named Seybold after its founder - Sanford Seybold. But Mr. Seybold, having been on a trip to Colorado some years before, thought that Denver, Colorado was such a beautiful city that he wished to honor the new village with its name.
