Judy Burdick wrote:  "Phillip, according to family legend, was ambushed by Santa Anna's men on the eve of the Texas Revolution as he was riding to San Jacinto to warn the troops.  He made it back home and died in Catherine's arms.  She had Martha Ann shortly after she and two of her slaves helped to bury him under a tree in  Liberty County.  She then followed her children, who had been sent away from danger by wagon. His grave hasn't been found as far as I know, but she is buried at Oak Island Church cemetery in Somerset TX.  There is a TX Pioneer bronze medallion on her headstone."
