TEACHER, COMPANION DIE IN CRASH
Miss Edna Logan, Mrs. Cloud Killed Near Laclede, Mo. Two Decatur women, Mrs. Lessie Cloud, 1390 West Macon street and Edna Logan, school teacher 1167 West Eldorado street, were killed yesterday afternoon in a head-on automobile accident near Laclede, Mo. Miss Logan, a teacher in Decatur since 1921. was killed instantly while Mrs. Cloud died in a Laclede hospital about 7:30 p.m. The accident occurred in the early afternoon, according to reports.
Crash Into Truck
Details of the crash which brought death to the local women were not known here last night although it was understood the car in which they were riding, driven by Miss Logan, crashed head-on with a truck. Miss Logan was 52 years old while Mrs. Cloud's age was placed by friends at approximately 76. She was the widow of the late Benjamin Franklin Cloud, Decatur real estate man who died in 1936.
Returning to Decatur
The two women, according to friends, had been vacationing in Colorado Springs, Col. since early in July. They were to have returned to Decatur today, it was reported. Mrs. Cloud was born at Carthage, Ill. and moved to Decatur soon after her marriage in 1892. She leaves a daughter-in-law, Mrs. H.F. Cloud of Decatur and a grandson. Franklin Hall Cloud, also of Decatur. Mrs. Cloud's body will be returned to Decatur. Miss Logan, according to Decatur school system records, was born at Alton, Oct 15, 1885. In 1906, after receiving a teaching certificate from George Peabody college she was employed by the Alton school system where she remained until 1921. In the fall of 1921 she started teaching in Decatur, her first position being at Gastman school. After three years at Gastman she taught three terms at Durfee and three at the old Tarr addition school. In 1930 she was transferred to Grant school. Miss Logan is known to have one sister. Miss Jessie Logan, a librarian of Indianapolis and two brothers of Chicago.

JURY BLAMES TRUCKER FOR TWO DEATHS
Bodies of Miss Logan, Mrs. Cloud Being Returned Here
Manslaughter charges yesterday were placed against tldon McGlothin. Kansas City, driver of the truck which Wednesday crashed into a car driven by Miss Edna Logan, Decatur, killing her and her companion, Mrs. Lessie Cloud, also of Decatur. The warrants were filed by Dick Green, Linn county prosecutor, after a coroner's jury ruled the two Decatur women had met death due to "carelessness on the part of McGlothlin." Released On Bond The truck driver was released on $2.000 bond pending trial in the October term of the Linn county circuit court. According to reports of the accident, the truck driven by McGlothlin was attempting to pass an automobile on a grade when it struck the car driven by Miss Logan, coming in the opposite direction. The truck was on the wrong side of the highway at the time of the crash according to reports. Returning home Miss Logan was a Decatur school teacher while Mrs. Cloud was the widow of the former B. F. Cloud, Decatur real estate man. They were returning to Decatur after a vacation at Colorado Springs. Col. A Dawson & Wikoff ambulance left yesterday to bring back to Decatur the body of Mrs. Cloud, while Miss Logan's body is being returned here by a Laclede ambulance to Monson's funeral home. Funeral arrangements for both women are incomplete. Mrs. Cloud was born April 17. 1862, leaves a daughter in law. Mrs. H. F. Cloud and a grandson. Franklin Cloud, both of Decatur. Miss Logan leaves two brothers. Clark Logan and Leon Logan of Chicago and sister Miss Jessie Logan of Indianapolis, Ind.
