Dr. Moxon was born in West Collingswood, New Jersey on December 12, 1918, the son of Leslie B. and Marguerite Kerwin Moxon.
He was reared primarily in Philadelphia and received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1943. He completed his residency at the US Naval Hospital in Philadelphia and began his 20 year service in the US Navy.
On March 4, 1944 Bob married Barbara M. Wischan in Philadelphia and soon after was assigned to a beachmaster unit with Amphibious Forces during the invasion of Okinawa. He served as the ship’s doctor on the USS Piedmont during the occupation of Japan.
After the War he attended the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Medicine and became Board certified in internal medicine in 1952 and recertified in 1974. He was elected a Fellow of the American College of Physicians in 1957.
During the remainder of his Navy career, he served on the USS Grand Canyon with the Sixth Fleet in the Mediterranean, as Chief of Outpatient Service at Tripler Army Hospital in Hawaii and Chief of Medical Service at the Naval Hospitals in Annapolis, Maryland and Portsmouth, Virginia.
Retiring from the Navy with the rank of Captain in 1963 he became Director of Medical Education at Columbia Hospital, and in 1966 joined the late Dr. Izard Josey the practice of internal medicine, later with the late Dr. James Owens and Dr. J. Richard Allison, III, retiring in 1987. He was a gentle, caring and dedicated doctor - much loved and respected by his patients.

After retiring he served as consultant in internal medicine for Medicare utilization in the South Carolina Professional Review Organization, as an expert witness for Social Security Disability, and taught health topics at the Columbia Shepherd’s Center, where he was a member of its Board of Directors.
