      Earl R. Humbird
      TEXAS CITY -- Earl R. Humbird, 77, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2000, in Galveston, Texas.  He was born October 3, 1922, in East Bernard, Texas.  He was employed for over 30 years as a butcher with Evans, Minimax and other grocery stores.  He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a volunteer fireman in the Santa Fe, Texas, fire department and a member of the Trinity Full Gospel Church.
      Survivors include his wife, Rowena DeMaranville Pierce Humbird; daughters, Nancy Wofford, Linda Mincher and John and Barbara Carter and Donald; his stepchildren, Bonnie Salter and Aaron, Scottie Pierce, David Pierce and Kathym, MarkPierce and Aaron Pierce and wife, Kimberly; sister, Ruth Radler and Joe; brothers, Alvin Cloud and Mary and Tilford Cloud; 23 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
      He is preceded in death by wife, Velma Ree; daughter, Earline Scales; grandson, Gary Wayne Rainey; sister, Evelyn Couch and brother-in-law, Doc Couch.
      Visitation will be held Monday, April 17, 2000, at James Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2000, in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Charles Golden and the Rev. Dan Scheumack officiation.  Interment will be in Grace Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock, Texas
