    Notes
    • Obituary:
Carolyn Sue Martin Vincent was born at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Port Arthur, Texas, on February 7, 1948, to Edwin Oliver (E.O) and Shirley Romero Martin. Carolyn passed from this life into the presence of her Savior on Thursday, October 4, 2018. Carolyn firmly believed and frequently said “Love never fails”, and sharing the love of Christ by loving others was the main theme of Carolyn’s life. When she was a child in school, Carolyn’s teacher told her that she would grow up to be mother hen with all of her little chicks around her, and loving children was one of the primary ways that Carolyn extended the love of Christ. She taught Sunday School and missions classes at Trinity Baptist Church in Port Arthur and at First Baptist Church Lindale. She taught at and directed Trinity Baptist Church Day Care in Port Arthur, Texas from for eight years. Many precious children were impacted with the love of Christ through the Day Care, by staying with Carolyn (affectionately referred to as “Ca Ca”) for childcare, and by staying in the Vincent home when they needed a safe place of refuge.
Carolyn taught English to internationals for more than 5 decades of her life. This focus of love began when she was a teenager working at the mission center in downtown Port Arthur. She and Joe helped many internationals to learn the English and cultural skills that would help them to assimilate into American life. Most notably, she impacted these people from many places with the love and knowledge of Christ. She was preceded in death by her brother, Edwin Oliver Martin, Jr. Carolyn is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Joseph William Vincent, Sr.; children, Beau Vincent and wife, Michelle, Lynette Stalls and husband, Stacey, and Pam Hines and husband, Don; grandchildren, Susannah Benton and Sydney Hines; brothers, Michael Martin and Shawn Martin, numerous nieces and nephews and dear friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Saturday, October 6, 2018 at the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale.
