1764 Lauren-25 May 1809 Warren married Anna Taliferro 1768-1864. (Her grandson Andrew on leave from the civil war had small pox and Anna contracted it from him and died at age 96). 4.
Bartley McCrary 1767 Lauren-5 Jan 1826 Baldwin married ~1786 Lauren to Charity Fuquitt
John McCrary was born about 1735. He married Jane Greer whose father was John Greer Sr. John appears to have been the first McCrary to settle in Duncan's Creek. In 1755, he appeared before the Governor of South Carolina to petition for land for himself and two persons in his family. This would have been his wife and first born child. John petitioned for an additional 150 acres on 7 Oct 1765 and another 100 acres on 2 Dec 1766. He purchased 300 acres from Daniel Mote on 2 Aug 1770 and 150 more on 17 Jul 1774 from John Coulter. As did the other McCrary's, he was a member of the Little River Regiment during the American Revolution.
John sold his land in Jan 1787 and moved to Georgia. He purchased 50 acres in Hancock Co Ga next to Bartley McCrary. By 1802 he was taxed in Hancock Co for 6 slaves and 337 acres of land. In 1807 he is found in Baldwin County with 8 slaves and 202 1/2 acres of land. John died ca 1813 in Baldwin Co. GA. In the Georgia Journal issue of 9 Mar 1814 is an advertisement that says " Will be sold, on Friday the 22 of April next, at the plantation of John M'Crary, deceased, the horses, cattle, and hogs, blacksmith's tools, one wagon and gear..belonging to estate of sd. deceased. (signed) Bartley McCrary."
