Re: Amos Jefferson Reeder
Posted by: Melinda Sue Winter (ID *****5735)
Amos Jefferson Reeder was the son of Abishai Reeder, and the grandson of Amos Reeder. Amos Reeder was born ca 1774/1780 in Newberry Co, SC - married to Nancy PRATT, b 1785 VA; d 8 Jan 1831 Scott Co, ILL.
Amos was a farmer, attended the Baptist Church, although his hertiage was Catholic. The family rafted down on the Ohio River; across from Louisville, KY indians fired from shore and killed her mother (Anne COOKE). The LDS Archives have a family group sheet showing her mother as Keziah LANCASTER, this is erroneous - Keziah was Zepheniah PRATT's second wife.
The best source on Reeder family history is "Maryland & Virginia Colonials:Genealogies of Some Colonial Families," by Sharon J. Doliante; Genealogical Publishing Co, Inc. Also good is "Colonial Settlers - St. Clement's Bay" by Mary Louise Donnelly.
