Since we don't know when John's father, Jacob came to this country from Germany, there is no way to know whether John and his brother's were born in Germany or America.
Name was Johannes Koller on church record of first child's baptism .  This was his name in German, and the name he was given at baptism .  He became John Kullers when he moved to Virginia, which later became Cullers.

22 Aug 1777, John Kullers purchased 251 acres of land in Powells For t and his
descendent ORIE MUNCH still owns part of this same land, it having be en in the family ever since. As of March 1995, Orie was in a nursin g home, and his
granddaughter was purchasing it with her husband.
John Cullers did not build the house in which he lived and raised hi  family. The buildings were already on the land when he bought it. T he building was known locally as the Teboe Fort and Stockade. After J ohn's death, the old home was used as a barn and his son Daniel buil t a new house, still standing, the one owned by Orie Munch. In 1950 t he old barn blew down and a new barn was built on the same site. Th e present barn marks the location of the original "Fort" or house.
Church records translated by Frederick S. Weiser for the Union Churc h at Creagerstown, Frederick County, Maryland show a Jakob Koller, son of Johannes and Anna Maria Koller, b 24 Aug 1791, baptized 4 Sep 1791.  This is the only family which fits the dates, but John and Mar y were living in Virginia at the time and had a son Jacob who was born about 1786.  This is a puzzle, since there is, in the records of th is family, no other John and Anna Maria Koller who could have been having children at that time.
Tombstone has name spelled John Kullers.  His father, our immigrant an cestor is buried next to him, name as Jacob Kullers.

Notes:

Jacob K?ller, as the name was spelled when he immigrated, is buried in Fort Valley, Shenandoah County,    VA, next to his son, John, and John?s wife, Mary. The name on all three tombstones is spelled Kullers.Jacob was married twice, both wives were named Maria Magdalena, but I have no idea where either one of them are buried. I suspect that the first wife, and mother of their four sons (Heinrich, born in 1755 and  baptized by the Lutheran pastor in Frederick, but no further records were found, probably died young. The  church record indicates that he was born the end of Oct, but also says he was baptized on 13 Sep 1755)  died in Frederick County in late 1774 or early 1775, and is probably buried there. She was listed as asponsor for a baptism in 1774 and Jacob remarried in 1775. The second wife was a widow whose name was Maria Magdalena Abel, daughter of John Rusher, and Jacob married her in Frederick County,  Maryland on August 19, 1775. She lived in Virginia with him, as witnessed by the fact that one of Jacob?s  deeds stated that Maria Magdalena and Jacob?s son, John ,came to Frederick County from Virginia to  handle the sale of a property. She is not buried with him, at least there is no stone there. I have found no      record of either wife?s death or burial in available church records.

I have seen that, and it's what the DAR used to justify putting markers on
John's and Mary's graves several years ago.  However, it's really John
Keller, not Koller.  Our John never owned property in Maryland, therefore
couldn't have given the army any supplies, or otherwise.  I'm sure he helped
his father on the family farm, although the other two brothers owned their
own properties.  John purchased the property in Virginia just two or three
days after his father sold his property in Maryland, and Jacob actually
moved to Virginia to live with John and Mary, so I'm sure he gave John money
to purchase the property.
The mix-up between Koller and Keller started with a descendant of Michael
Koller, who decided the names were interchangeable, but if you've read the
first part of my book, you'll know that wasn't true.
